  • Creates and provides 40 hour pre-service training program for all new detention staff; maintains training records and ensures all detention staff are certified by TJJD standards.
  • Transports residents to court, doctors appointments, and placements as needed.
  • Provides safe living environment for residents.
  • Processes juvenile intakes and searches incoming residents for items not permitted.
  • Supervises juveniles while in their units and supervises recreation of residents in accordance with procedures.
  • Restrains residents when required.
  • Download touchprobes and maintain reports. Collect and process grievances.
  • Ensures detention staff are updated on revisions to department’s P&P. Pre-audit of detention files.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3 years job related work experience; residential supervision preferred.
  • Good computer skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  • Minimum 21 years of age required.
  • Certified Detention Officer; CPR, First Aid, and Handle with Care Certifications.
  • Shift work and weekends are required.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.
    STARTING SALARY RANGE: $26.74 - $40.11 hourly based on qualifications
    CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
