Job Title: K-12 Media Specialist
Location: Lake Lure Classical Academy, Lake Lure, NC
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Principal

POSITION OVERVIEW:

LLCA seeks an innovative and knowledgeable K-12 Media Specialist to manage the school’s media center, promote information literacy, and integrate technology education into the curriculum. The ideal candidate will have expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and its ethical use in schools, as well as experience teaching keyboarding, coding, and computer science. Additionally, this role requires proficiency in Canvas, our primary Learning Management System (LMS), to support digital learning and technology integration across grade levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
  • North Carolina Media Coordinator or Teaching License (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience in K-12 education, library management, or instructional technology.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, and computer science education.
  • Strong understanding of Canvas LMS and its role in digital learning.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and other educational technology platforms.
  • Strong understanding of classical education philosophy and its application in a modern learning environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching computer science, coding, or STEM-related courses.
  • Familiarity with Core Knowledge, classical literature, and historical research methods.
  • Experience providing Canvas LMS training and support for teachers and students.
