Job Summary The K-4 Receptionist is a key representative and face of the front office and understands the pulse of K-4 activities and programs as assigned. The K-4 Receptionist works alongside the K-4 Administrative Liaison and assigned staff members to support the vision and mission of the school along with items related to the front office. Utmost, the K-4 Receptionist must consider himself/herself not simply a business professional who supports families and students, but more importantly a missionary on the field to share the Gospel to whom God has entrusted as part of the VCS ministry. Role and Responsibilities: Responsible to work with Administrative Liaison and assigned staff to assist with various tasks as requested (clerical and other) Learn and use RenWeb to facilitate attendance or other assigned functions Responsible for monitoring classroom and office supply purchases as assigned Maintain all responsibilities involving the reception area or as assigned Assist K-4 substitute coordinator with finding substitutes and substitute sign-in Attend a variety of school functions/activities as assigned per school calendar Face of the Elementary for all visitors / visitor check-in Take all incoming calls and direct them to proper staff members/take messages as needed Pass along admissions questions or clarifications to K-8 Admissions Manager Direct students to the nurse’s station upon entering office area, as necessary. Reception may address any minor issues that do not require the nurse Manage daily items related to our facilities support. Monitor front gate buzz-in for all visitors Ensure front desk is always monitored or confirm someone is present if you need to step away Manage remaining students that have not been picked up for end of day dismissal Assist teachers or staff with classroom special projects or support (laminating, cutting paper, etc.) Assist with organization of special events as assigned Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, and codes Performs other related assigned duties Requirements Qualifications and Skills: Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony to others Agree to uphold Valley Christian’s Mission & Beliefs which can be found at http://valleychristianaz.org/about/philosophy Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school’s Mission & Beliefs. Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Communicates effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, staff and visitors Able to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change Manages multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure with a customer-service mindset Maintains punctuality and consistent attendance Exhibits strong interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills Provides excellent customer service and represents the ministry professionally Education and Experience: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required Must have experience in reception Preferred Skills and Knowledge: School reception experience Physical Requirements: Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story) Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms) Work in noisy and crowded school environment Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed Frequent walking throughout the campus Background Check Statement VCS conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications.
