Description:

Visitation Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate K-8 Special Education Teacher & Coordinator to support students with diverse learning needs. This role includes direct instruction, intervention, and coordination of individualized education plans and Student Intervention Team meetings, with a particular emphasis on supporting students with a range of exceptionalities. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive Catholic learning environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

  • Directly instruct and support students with a range of disabilities, including learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, physical disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized School Education Plans (SEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, leadership and specialists.
  • Coordinate accommodations and modifications to meet students’ diverse learning needs.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment aligned with Catholic values.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide differentiated instruction and in-class support.
  • Conduct assessments to track student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, faculty, and external support professionals.
  • Provide professional development and resources to staff regarding inclusive education best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and applicable educational regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or ability to obtain one).
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning differences.
  • Knowledge of best practices in inclusive education and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Visitation Catholic School.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience coordinating individualized education plans or similar programs.
  • Training in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), Student Intervention Team (SIT) and universal design for learning (UDL).
  • Experience integrating assistive technology and adaptive strategies into instruction.
