JOB SUMMARY:

The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain the data pipelines and infrastructure that are the lifeblood of the Visit Vietnam initiative. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable flow of data from diverse sources into our platform and transforming it into a valuable asset for analysis and insights.

Location: - Hanoi, Vietnam (On-site)

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST-HAVES):

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehousing concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with building data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, Spark, or cloud-native services (e.g., AWS Glue, Data Factory).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Scala.
  • Experience with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience working with large datasets in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure).

QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED):

  • Experience with data lake architecture.
  • Familiarity with stream-processing systems (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques.
  • Experience with social listening data or other unstructured data sources.
  • Bachelor‘s or Master‘s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and optimize robust and scalable data pipelines to ingest data from tourism businesses, social media, and other sources.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes to clean, transform, aggregate, and store data in the platform‘s data lake and data warehouse.
  • Implement the logic for calculating the “Data Green Score & Quality Score” based on the completeness, consistency, and timeliness of shared data.
  • Manage and maintain the data storage systems, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate data pipelines with the core application APIs.
  • Work with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver data sets for analytics and reporting.
  • Monitor data pipeline performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure data timeliness and accuracy.
  • Contribute to the overall data architecture and governance strategy of the platform.
