Position Title: Associate Kafka Engineer Location: Pune / Mumbai Department: PREM Engineering Employment Type: Full-Time Position We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Kafka Engineer to join our data engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience in distributed systems and a keen interest in real-time data streaming. You will support the design, development, and maintenance of Apache Kafka-based solutions that power our data pipelines and event-driven architecture. Primary Responsibilities * Assist in the setup, configuration, and monitoring of Apache Kafka clusters. * Develop and maintain Kafka producers and consumers using Java, Python, or Scala. * Support data streaming pipelines and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Kafka with other systems (e.g., Spark, Flink, databases). * Ensure data reliability, scalability, and security across Kafka infrastructure. * Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for Kafka-related issues. * Document Kafka architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. Desired Experience/ Skills * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. * 2 –5 years of experience in software development or data engineering. * Basic understanding of Apache Kafka and distributed messaging systems. * Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala. * Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting. * Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus. * Strong problem-solving and communication skills. * Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, or ksqlDB. * Understanding of data serialization formats like Avro, JSON, or Protobuf. * Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Confluent Control Center. * Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
