KARATE INSTRUCTOR

Employment Category: Part-time, permanent
Hours: Flexible work schedule, including early mornings, weekends and evenings
Compensation: $17.20 - $18.00 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more than 120 days prior to date of hire, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in the planning and delivery of recreational/sport education programs
  • Strong sense of responsibility and maturity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate belt level required (brown belt and up)
  • Training in break falls, self-defense and pressure points an asset
  • We run a Shotokan style karate program, however other backgrounds in martial arts are welcome (training in Shotokan will be provided)
Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead age-appropriate karate programming that is fun and inclusive
  • Provide constant care and supervision of participants, ensuring safe and engaging programs
  • Act in accordance with the YMCA Mission and Values
  • Maintain a positive profile and relationships within the community
