CNC Programmer Job Summary The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and supporting CNC programs for production parts across milling and turning platforms. CNC Programmer Responsibilities Program CNC mills and lathes using Mastercam or equivalent CAM software Develop efficient toolpaths, speeds/feeds, and workholding strategies Support initial setups and prove-out of new programs on the floor Diagnose and resolve machining issues related to tooling, programs, or setup Implement mistake-proofing techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce waste Identify opportunities to reduce cycle time and improve tool life All other duties as assigned by management CNC Programmer Skills and Competencies Strong experience with CNC milling and turning Proficiency in Mastercam or similar CAM software Solid understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading Strong troubleshooting mindset Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment CNC Programmer Qualifications 4–8 years of CNC programming experience in a production environment Proven experience programming both mills and lathes Experience improving cycle times and program efficiency Hands-on setup and prove-out experience CNC Programmer Physical Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with required PPE including eye protection, hearing protection, and safety shoes. Ability to stand, walk, and lift materials as needed throughout the workday. CNC Programmer Work Environment Manufacturing floor environment with a mix of programming, troubleshooting, and hands-on machine interaction.
