Sunset Animal Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is looking for an experienced part-time Seasonal Veterinary Assistant to join our Team! We are proud to serve the Houston, TX area for everything pet related. At Sunset Animal Hospital, our singular goal is to provide compassionate medicine of the highest quality. Our Kennel Assistants provide daily care for our boarders and assist with kennel maintenance. Their main objective is to properly board our dogs and cats, provide a fun-filled and safe environment for the pets in our care. Additionally, this means interacting with our clients as they pick up and drop off their pets. Working with dogs is a lot of fun, but this job is extremely demanding and requires someone who understands dog behavior and has excellent dog handling skills. Candidates must be organized, able to communicate clearly with staff and owners, work independently and have a passion for dogs of all sizes and personalities. Candidates must be knowledgeable about dog behavior and body language and able to redirect dogs that are exhibiting inappropriate behavior in a safe manner. Essential Job Functions: * MONITORING all boarders indoors and in the play yard. * Working with a large group of dogs * Constantly walking and interacting with dogs * MAINTAINING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT! * Provide excellent customer service. * Keeping the facility clean and maintained * Record keeping, checking in and out dogs. * Kennel Assistants must be active and attentive at all times. Requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent. * At least one year's experience working in a dog daycare facility is preferred. * Must be friendly, organized and customer service driven. * Must have the ability to work in an extremely fast-paced work environment. * Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. * Must have a passion for animal welfare. * Available to work during evenings, and on weekends and public holidays, if required.
