Job Description:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.

  • Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
  • Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset
  • Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator
  • Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required
  • Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign
  • Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
  • Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition
  • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis)
  • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
  • Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
    Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset

Experience:

  • One year of related experience or working in customer service
  • Money handling experience is an asset
  • Related experience is an asset

Skills and Capabilities

  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs)
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities
  • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information

This is a fixed term position for the Christmas season. Shifts vary, and will be 20 hours per week.
Target pay range is $17.33 to $21.66 per hour.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.33 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports directly to the Corps Officer.
Direct reports: none.
