Description

Primary Function: The essential responsibility of the Key Account Manager, Engineered Materials is the to develop, qualify, pursue, and bring to fruition new business opportunities for Foster Corporation Engineered Materials Business. Foster’s Engineered Materials Business is, for the most part, non-medical, larger volume business. Position is New England Based.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operational instructions, procedure manuals, and MSDS sheets.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
    Computer Skills: Must be proficient using system programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Other Required Ability: Must have good reasoning ability as described below.

  • Ability to apply common sense to carry instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.

Responsibilities
  • Pursue contact with potential customers to sell compounding and distribution business where possible.
  • Manage and support Engineered Materials accounts.
  • Develop budgets based on Engineered business potentials.
  • Work with potential customers to define application background, description, scope, desired outcome, and deliverables.
  • Qualify the project as to the intensity of customer need and technical fit for Foster, and economics driving the development.
  • Recommend a solution to the customer’s problem and work with inside sales to request quotes for the customer regarding the recommended solution.
  • Coordinate internal/external resources.
  • Communicate and coordinate business and development activities with Foster technical and operational people resources.
  • Manage business opportunity development process to customer commitment and closure of the deal.
  • Manage business opportunities through to successful outcomes for Foster and customers and post a business follow-up.
  • Trade show attendance where needed.
  • Work with marketing to develop marketing collateral that pertains to the needs of the Engineered Material business.
  • Product pricing and development of pricing models for specific customers, markets, and applications.
  • Keeps management informed through reporting required by management.
    Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

    Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred with 5+ years of plastics sales experience.
    Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
