TECHNICAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong Understanding of South African Retail Dynamics: Proven experience working within the South African retail environment, with a keen understanding of local consumer preferences and market trends.
  • Commercial Acumen: Solid understanding of P&L principles, sales drivers, and the ability to create effective account strategies.
  • Relationship Building & Influencing Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders within retail organizations.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in analyzing data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions to optimize account performance.
  • Results-Oriented & Proactive: A passion for achieving results, exceeding targets, and proactively seeking opportunities for growth within the South African market.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Key Account Management, ideally within the South African retail market and preferably with FMCG or beauty experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and growing key accounts.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Account Management & Relationship Building: Develop and nurture strong relationships with key retail accounts in South Africa, acting as their primary point of contact for L’Oréal’s Consumer Products Division.
  • Business Development: Implement joint business plans and tailored strategies with each account to achieve sales targets and enhance market share within South Africa.
  • Negotiation & Commercial Agreements: Negotiate effectively with retail partners, securing favourable terms and mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Retail Activation & Category Management: Collaborate closely with retailers on in-store activations, promotions, and category management initiatives to maximize brand visibility and drive sales within the South African market.
  • Market Analysis & Insights: Monitor market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitor activity within South Africa to identify opportunities and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively with internal L’Oréal teams (Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance) to ensure seamless execution and deliver a unified brand experience across the South African market.
