Description Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi-generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park, and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities. We are seeking a part-time KidsKlub Site Director. KidsKlub is a Mt. Prospect Park District before-and-after-school program for students in District 59. Under the direct supervision of the Youth Program Supervisor, the KidsKlub Site Director is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, supervising staff, and implementing the day-to-day operations for school-age children. The KidsKlub Site Director must have college classroom hours and/or child care experience in a large group setting. This role requires the ability to work August through June (school year), Monday through Friday, 6:45 am - 9:00 am, and 3:15 pm - 6:00 pm (Wednesdays 2:15 pm - 6:00 pm). Additional hours are also required for days off from school. Additionally, the KidsKlub Site Director must be 21+ years of age, able to transport participants in MPPD vehicles, and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Candidates must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. The starting pay rate for the KidsKlub Site Director is $18.00 per hour. Mt. Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Create a safe and inviting environment for the participants and staff. Provide age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program. Provide a variety of experiences and activities for children with weekly lesson plans that include theme days, special crafts, and other activities. Maintain a commitment to the development of each child’s self-esteem by providing a safe, fun, and nurturing environment through age-appropriate activities, crafts, and games. Supervise, delegate, and evaluate staff. Prepare monthly calendars and daily schedules, and perform the administration of important documents/files. Prepare and implement day off school programs. Transport participants to/from activities on an as-needed basis. Participate in planned activities with the children. Maintain proper supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order for day-to-day operations. Enforce and implement behavior policies and behavior management plans when needed. Attend regular meetings and any other departmental special events as requested. Administer basic first aid when required. Be familiar with and abide by District policies and procedures. SECONDARY DUTIES: Perform additional duties as assigned, which may be considered essential. Maintain a neat and orderly work environment; return supplies and equipment to the appropriate location when finished. All other duties as assigned by the Youth Program Supervisor, Early Childhood and Youth Manager, Director of Recreation, and/or Executive Director. However, in an emergency, perform all other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have college classroom hours and/or child care experience in a large group setting. Must be able to work August through June (school year), Monday through Friday, 6:45 am - 9:00 am, and 3:15 pm - 6:00 pm (Wednesdays 2:15 pm - 6:00 pm). Additional hours are also required for days off from school. Must be actively and physically able to demonstrate the planned activities. Must be 21+ years of age and able to transport participants in MPPD vehicles. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be CPR/AED certified, or become CPR/AED certified within 1 month of employment. Must possess the capacity to provide a high level of customer service to participants/parents/caregivers. Must be able to work and maintain composure in periods of high activity and in emergency situations. Must be capable of following through on tasks to completion. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships with supervisors and co-workers. Must possess the capacity for excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to speak loudly and clearly in a large group setting. Must possess strong problem-solving skills and use of good judgment. Must possess the capacity to be proactive, self-motivated, and achieve assigned goals. Must possess knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office. Physical Requirements: The KidsKlub Site Director will be required to regularly squat down to a child’s level, stand and walk for a lengthy amount of time, sit in child-size chairs, lift 20+ pounds, and demonstrate large/small motor movements. Additionally, the KidsKlub Site Director may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including sun, wind, humidity, and hot/cold temperatures. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function of this position. Due to the needs of the Park District, evening and weekend hours may be required. Your work schedule may vary and work week may exceed regular work hours at times, but will be less than 1,000 hours per year.
