JOB SUMMARY AND DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE WORK: Kinder Camp is a pre-kindergarten exploration day camp where children between the ages of 3.5-5 years old often have their first camp experience.  Children will participate in a variety of activities such as swimming, crafts, field trips, and group play.  Working under the guidance of the camp manager, you will have the opportunity to impact the lives of children by providing a safe and nurturing environment that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Kinder Camp Manager’s primary responsibilities are to assist the Community Center Coordinator with Camp operation such as the planning and delivery of camp activities, staff training, and mentoring and supervising approximately 12-15 camp staff and 1-3 interns. Assist the Coordinator with administration and logistics before, during, and after each camp session. Assist in the planning and implementation of all camp training. Support staff with general needs, inquiries, and facilitation of camp activities. Participate in and help facilitate staff training at the beginning of and throughout the summer. Anticipate and minimize potential problems with staff, campers or the environment and respond effectively to problems that occur. Apply camp policies and procedures in responding and/or disciplining staff and campers. Assist with intern supervision and support. Ensure proper camper behavior through the summer camp 3 R’s (Respectful, Responsible, Ready) policy and address any behavior concerns. Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Coordinator. Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, first aid logbook documentation, and daily attendance. Maintain health, safety, cleanliness in program areas. Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area/body of water, know/review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately. Performs other related duties as assigned. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED: Computer     Microsoft Suite     Google Suite     General Office Equipment MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience: Experience as a supervisor, manager, or other leadership position. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, effectively communicate with children and adults and manage large and small groups. Supervisory skills, including the ability to inspire and develop young staff members. Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities. Experience working in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field. Unlimited positive energy and ability to build and work as a cohesive team. Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable. Must be available to assist with pre-camp preparation (May-June). Must be available for the mandatory pre-camp staff orientation (dates TBD). Must be available the entire camp season (Monday-Friday, June 15 - August 7, 2026) between the hours of 7 am – 6 pm. DESIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid and CPR certification or willing to become certified before camp preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Champions inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives. Empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict. A variety of games, sports, activities, riddles, songs, and arts & crafts that children will enjoy participating in. Positive behavior management techniques. Ability to provide effective one-on-one assistance to camp participants and teachers. Steady leadership combined with adaptability. Readiness to adjust planned activities as needed based on factors such as staff absences and inclement weather. Ability to communicate promptly by email, text, and/or phone. WORKING CONDITIONS: Counselors are expected to work Monday-Friday (except June 19 and July 4), 8:30 am-3:30 pm, from Monday, June 15 through Friday, August 7.  Additional work hours are available for counselors who want to work an extended day by also working either Before Care (7:30 am-8:30 am) or After Care (until 6 pm). May be required to sit, stand, walk, or engage in physical activity for extended periods, particularly in outdoor settings. NOTE: This class specification should not be interpreted as all inclusive.
