JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. This role requires a strong commitment to early childhood education and the ability to engage students in a variety of learning activities. Bilingual candidates, particularly those fluent in English and French, are highly encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Other Requirements

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (either Interim or Permanent).
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Effective communication, leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team, as well as an ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Good knowledge of: Teaching Quality Standard, Alberta Learning. Curriculum for Kindergarten, and Health & Safety Guidelines for Child Care Facilities.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-Level C certification.
  • The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with a Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the Alberta Education Curriculum and our Standards of Excellence, teaching according to the Program of Studies. Customize and adjust the curriculum to accommodate the diverse needs of all students, enabling them to achieve to their utmost potential.
  • Prepare material for learning, and your classroom for activities as appropriate.
  • Instruct using a variety of instructional approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs, and program focus. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides children with opportunities to observe, question, investigate, and have fun.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behaviour, social development, and physical health. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required.
  • Establish and enforce classroom rules and routines for maintaining order and safety among the children for whom they are responsible.
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students’ needs and progress. Confer with parents or guardians, other staff members, and administrators to discuss children’s progress and resource needs, and to resolve students’ behavioural and academic challenges, as appropriate.
  • Perform other related tasks, including, but not limited to, organizing materials and displaying students’ work.
