SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The Early Childhood Teacher must be:

  • A self-directed learner
  • Familiar with current PYP, Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards & Kindergarten Guildelines.
  • Prepared to approach change positively.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Must hold an appropriate tertiary qualification
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program would be an advantage.
  • Should preferably have experience teaching in Queensland schools or an understanding of the Queensland system.
  • Must work within the guidelines of the AITSL professional standards for teachers.
Responsibilities

The Early Childhood Teacher is required to:

  • Provide an engaging child-centred, inquiry based learning program for the children.
  • Work within the IB PYP framework; the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Kindergarten Guidelines.
  • Engage with innovative ICT practice.
  • Perform such duties as are customarily rostered and shared by all staff, and such other duties as may be agreed upon.
  • Co-operate with senior staff in the organisation and management of the College and to maintain such records as may be required by the College.
  • Help foster strong relationships between parents, the community and the College.
  • Help promote a spirit of unity among the staff.
  • Be positive in support of the College rules, tradition and Christian ethos, both within the College and outside when the student is identifiable to the College.
