Description Mission of the Position The Kingdom Kids Teacher provides safe, secure, nurturing, clean and efficient care to the staff’s and congregation’s children. This position is responsible for providing both age-appropriate care and education for the children involved in the daytime program (Monday-Thursday), and interacting with them through play, stories, and curriculum. The Kingdom Kids Teacher is required to follow all safety rules and state regulations, per church policies. Essential Duties 1. Provide age-appropriate care for all children who are regularly enrolled as well as children who need drop-in care, including but not limited to: Feeding, Changing Diapers, Escorting to Bathroom, Putting children down for naps, etc. 2. Plan and implement developmentally age appropriate curriculum for classroom 3. Maintain a safe environment for children by being aware and alert at all times 4. Interact with children through games, stories, play, and prayer 5. Follow all safety rules and precautions regarding Safe Sanctuary and childcare 6. Answer inquiries from church members and guests regarding directions, ministries, events, etc. as an acting representative of St. Luke’s UMC 7. Communicate with parents when children are dropped off and picked up; discuss any issues that arise 8. Maintain a clean, well-organized, and welcoming space for children and parents 9. Disinfect and clean all tables, toys, and surfaces after use 10. Make careful observations and written notations of significant behavior of children for whom you are responsible 11. Attend mandatory quarterly trainings, and keep up to date on required state licensing trainings 12. Act as “floater” between rooms of different ages, when required Additional Responsibilities 13. Work during additional church events, as needed 14. Other duties as assigned Requirements Education · High school diploma or GED required · Bachelor’s degree in education or CDA (Child Development Associate) certificate preferred · Must be 18 years or older Experience · Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in caring for children between the ages of 0-6 · Training for infants & children required; continuing training provided by St. Luke’s - CPR, AED, First-Aid, SIDS + Shaken Baby + ECB (Early Childhood Brain) Development Talents · Ability to adapt and interact with children of varying ages and needs · Must be physically capable of meeting the demands of the position, including the ability to hear, communicate effectively, lift, bend, stand, and move throughout the work environment · Thorough knowledge of state licensing requirements and compliance for caregivers. · Passion for caring for children between the ages of 0-6 · Dependable and trustworthy · Strong interpersonal skills · Ability to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations · Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively · Ability to successfully build relationships and work in a team environment · Energetic and positive attitude Ability to build strong relationships with parents
