JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and culinary arts, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our customers while adhering to food safety standards. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Driving is essential if you don’t live local.
  • Proven experience in a kitchen environment, specifically in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Excellent culinary skills with an emphasis on attention to detail in presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • A passion for cooking and creating unique culinary experiences for customers.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the restaurant’s operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
  • Assist in the development of new sushi recipes and menu items to enhance customer offerings.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and timely service during busy periods.
  • Maintain inventory of sushi ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure freshness.
  • Train junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices in food safety.
  • Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process to ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant’s high standards.
