OVERVIEW

Howlers Lounge and cafe, operated by the Northwestern Polytechnic Students’ Association, is seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team in a dynamic role that combines bartending, cooking, cleaning, and customer service. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can switch quickly between multiple roles, and enjoys creating a welcoming space for students and guests.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant or food industry experience is preferred, with a strong emphasis on customer service skills.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills, with the ability to switch smoothly between multiple roles.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a busy environment.
  • ProServe is a benefit, but will be provided if not already obtained

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve beverages in accordance with established recipes and standards.
  • Operate the POS system efficiently and accurately to process orders and handle cash transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, adhering to food safety and handling regulations.
  • Engage with customers, providing excellent service and addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of food orders to guests at the bar.
  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items while adhering to food safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels of bar and kitchen supplies and report any shortages to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in the bar, kitchen, and dining area.
  • Complete regular and deep cleaning tasks including wiping down tables, sweeping and mopping floors, washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, and sanitizing high-touch areas.
  • Stay busy and productive during down times with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the lounge atmosphere.
  • Restock supplies, rotate inventory, and ensure all workstations are fully equipped during shifts.
  • Work efficiently under pressure, adapting quickly between bartending, cooking, and customer service as needed.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service, ensuring a positive experience for all guests.
