We are presently seeking a Kitchen Assistant for our program. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in a kitchen, preferably in daycare settings, retirement homes, catering, or similar work environments.
The main responsibilities for this position includes dishwashing and ensuring the cleanup of dishes and ensuring the kitchen’s cleanliness and sanitation. There will also be some assisting in preparing meals for approximately 500 children for breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to pre-set menus and recipes. The successful candidate will adhere to all Alberta health, fire and food safety regulations, as well as Active Start’s Food Safety Plan. Additionally, the position involves weekly food ordering using our food order guide and managing deliveries.
A successful candidate would be highly motivated, adaptable, organized, physically fit, and possess strong multitasking skills. This person must have a current criminal record check (with vulnerable sections search), first aid certification and food safe certification (completed within the past 5 years), or be willing to obtain these items upon being hired. This person must either posses a Level 1 Alberta Child Care certification, or be willing to work towards it.
