Description Responsibilities Adheres to all provisions of the current Rhode Island Department of Health Food Code. Monitors enforces rules of safety and sanitation in the kitchen in accordance with the current Rhode Island Department of Health Food Code. Maintains cleanliness in foodservice area that meets all state and federal food safety and sanitation laws in accordance with the Rhode Island Department of Health Food Code. Ensures adequate and prompt preparation, service and clean-up of breakfast, lunch, supper and snack for children, staff, and volunteers working in the classrooms at assigned center(s). Prepare and provide nutritious meals and snacks for all children enrolled, following the meal pattern for each individual age group, and in compliance with all standards of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen facility. Activities include washing dishes, utensils, pots, pans, equipment, and meal transport carts after each meal and as needed throughout the day. Also includes scheduled weekly cleaning of the stove, refrigerators, toaster, can opener, grease traps, hood screens, etc. Assists with the stocking of incoming inventory such as paper products, food, milk, and bread orders. Assists with maintaining inventory rotation and tidiness in the storage areas. Participates in agency training, in-services, state and federal training pertaining to CACFP and workshops as determined appropriate and / or necessary by management. Professional Responsibilities Follow the policies and procedures of CHILD, Inc. and Head Start Performance Standards. Demonstrates an understanding of and compliance with RI and agency Child Abuse and Neglect reporting procedures. Demonstrate punctuality, flexibility, and dependable attendance. Participate in professional development and in-service training. Demonstrates professional responsibility and ethical behavior. Demonstrates ability to use sound judgement and initiative to act independently. Demonstrate effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with children, families, and other staff. Respect the confidentiality of information regarding students and families. Practices discretion when speaking with parents and other staff. This position is a part-time (twenty -five hours per week), school year (44 weeks per year) position. Requirements Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Experience with preparing quantity/batch cooking, preferably for young children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
