CEFA OKOTOKS (D’ARCY CROSSING) IS LOOKING FOR A KITCHEN ASSISTANT TO JOIN OUR TEAM!

CEFA Okotoks (D’Arcy Crossing) is a licensed child care centre offering full-day programs, Monday to Friday, for up to 152 students aged 1 to 6 years. As the Kitchen Assistant, you will collaborate with our Chef to prepare lunch and an afternoon snack each day. This is a part-time role, with shifts scheduled from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Applicants with a valid Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate will be considered for a full-time position, where time outside the kitchen will be spent supporting children in a classroom setting.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highly proficient in health and food safety
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Valid Food Handling Certification
  • ECE Level 1, 2, or 3 certification (if applying for full-time position)
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check)
  • Consistently demonstrate kindness, empathy, and the ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, cook, and serve lunch and afternoon snacks for up to 152 students daily
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace
  • Ensure documentation is up to date as required by CEFA and Alberta Health Services (AHS)
  • Clean dishes, surfaces, and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Follow food safety procedures at all times
  • Assist with planning and execution of occasional special school events
  • Maintain open and effective communication with all staff and management
  • Support classrooms with curriculum implementation (if applying with an ECE certificate)
