CHD Living is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated kitchen assistant to support our chef and service users at our care home in West Byfleet.
Established in 1984, we are a family-owned group of care services in Surrey and South London.
Whilst the chefs are busy rustling up some magnificent dishes for our residents, they’re in need of a helping hand – and that’s where our kitchen assistants come in. With the chef overseeing operations, you’ll be helping them to run as tight a ship as possible, maintaining high standards of food preparation and cleanliness in the kitchen.
A good kitchen is a clean kitchen, and as a kitchen assistant you’ll be tasked with ensuring hygiene and cleanliness are tip top, while supporting with the relevant duties such as food preparation, washing up, setting tables, and serving meals and beverages. Basically, you’ll be responsible for looking after everything that you’d expect from a well-run kitchen environment.
It would be helpful to have a basic knowledge of food preparation and food hygiene however full training will be given – so we are keen to speak to anyone who likes a kitchen environment, who is interested and passionate about food and who cares about others.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the preparation of food as directed by the chef/cook
- In conjunction with the chef/cook ensure that a high standard of food preparation is maintained and to implement the requirements as set out by the Environment Health (EHO), Food and Safety Act 1990
- To ensure that the kitchen, stores, servery, dining and associated areas fully conform to the requirements as laid down under the Health and Safety at Work legislation
- To ensure the kitchen, stores, servery, dining and associated areas are kept in a thoroughly clean and hygienic condition
- Washing up
