OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our team at Ashgrove Care Home. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production and preparation, with a focus on maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This role requires effective team management and leadership skills, as you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to perfection and served promptly.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a care home or healthcare setting.
  • Strong supervisory skills with experience in team management.
  • Solid understanding of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations is essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a passion for mentoring junior staff members.
  • Previous experience in food production, care home experience or restaurant environments is highly desirable.   • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared in accordance with food safety guidelines to prevent contamination.
  • Assist in training new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in inventory management, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels.
