ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We’re seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to support our school’s culinary team in preparing nutritious and appealing meals for our primary SEN pupils. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring a safe and hygienic kitchen environment while assisting with food preparation, cleaning, and dishwashing. Your ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions is essential. A positive attitude and a commitment to providing exceptional support to our students are also key qualities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Chef with preparing ingredients and equipment for daily meals.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment throughout the day, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down surfaces, and cleaning equipment.
  • Be responsible for kitchen laundry, ensuring all tea towels, cloths, and uniforms are kept clean and hygienic.
  • Assist with clearing away lunch from the school hall, including sweeping and cleaning the floor and wiping down tables.
  • Help ensure all utensils and crockery are washed and stored hygienically after use.
  • Replenish stocks and equipment as needed in the staff room.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the staff room, including wiping down tables daily and ensuring the floor is kept clean.
  • Collect and organise food orders.
  • Ensure that there is sufficient filtered water for staff and children and replenish when necessary.
  • Conduct a deep clean of the kitchen every half term, including degreasing floors, ovens, and grills, and sanitizing all surfaces.
  • Empty all bins and recycling from the kitchen and staff room as required.
  • Undertake any additional responsibilities requested by the Headteacher and Head Chef.
  • May be required to help with serving meals to pupils.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.
