Location: Radius Peppertree, 107 Roberts Line, Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North 4414
Hours of work: 20 hours per week (12 hours per week as Kitchen Assistant, and 8 hours per week as Cook)
Note: Radius Care cannot support a work visa/visa change for this role

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Appropriate industry experience, with previous experience as a cook
  • Excellent organisational skills and reliability
  • Personable and reliable, with a positive attitude
  • Experience leading a team preferred but not essential
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Kitchen Assistant: Gain valuable experience working closely with our kitchen team. Assist with the meal service and providing nutritious, well-presented meals to our residents. Aid the kitchen team to provide a hygienic work environment. Assume responsibility for cleaning food prep equipment and utensils. Report any faulty equipment to the Cook.
Cook: Lead the kitchen, deliver our meals programme and provide nutritious, well-presented meals to our residents. Ensure correct food is supplied against special orders. Monitor food temperature and oversee portion control.

KITCHEN ASSISTANT DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensuring utensils and equipment are clean, and stored safely and correctly
  • General kitchen duties, including dishwashing
  • Maintaining infection control principles
  • Handling, labelling, and storing chemicals correctly
  • Meeting timetables

COOK DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensure all infection control policies and procedures are followed
  • Deal efficiently with telephone calls
  • Maintain appropriate quality standards
  • Refer maintenance requests to the catering manager
  • Ensure storage areas are kept clean
