ABOUT THE COMPANY

Cubs Play Centre is a brand-new indoor soft play centre and café opening to the public in November 2025. Our mission is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for children while offering a welcoming and comfortable space for adults and caregivers. Our on-site café will serve high-quality food and drinks, and our team members will be trained to deliver professional, friendly and efficient service to all visitors.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

To support the successful launch of our centre, we are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team. Successful candidates must be available for training in the weeks leading up to opening. As part of our safer recruitment process, all successful applicants will be required to undergo a Basic DBS check and must be at least 18 years old with the right to work in the UK. Welsh language skills are desirable. All staff must be available from mid-October to complete the required training ahead of opening.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll support the smooth running of our café kitchen by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring high standards of hygiene and organisation are always met. Reporting to the Cook, you’ll play an essential role in delivering safe, high-quality food that complements the warm, welcoming experience we provide for children and their caregivers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Cook with basic food preparation and plating.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment throughout the shift.
  • Wash dishes, cookware, and food preparation tools promptly and thoroughly.
  • Follow food hygiene and safety procedures, including correct storage, labelling, and temperature checks.
  • Work effectively to meet KPIs and maintain standards.
  • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring stock is rotated and stored safely.
  • Support the Cook in preparing food for children’s parties and special events.
  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning products and basic ingredients, reporting shortages to the Cook or management.
  • Follow allergen procedures and support safe food handling practices.
  • Report any equipment issues, food safety concerns, or incidents to the Cook or management. - Provide cover for colleagues and work overtime if required.
