Primarily responsible to serve residents with meals and drinks to a high standard, ensuring trays and dining areas laid up with correct utensils and residents needs met. To ensure that all equipment taken out of kitchen, i.e. trolleys/crockery/cutlery/glasses/trays are stain and dust free and have been hygienically washed and dried.

· Routine- to effectively undertake the daily routine in the kitchen as directed by the cook.
· To effectively undertake cleaning tasks designated within kitchen/dining areas/pantry and hallway.
· To complete serving breakfasts normally no more than 6, take them to designated residents once nursing staff have prepared resident ready for breakfast.
· To take trays to residents once nursing staff have prepared them ready for breakfast.
· To collect trays from residents, stack and wash up dishes via dishwasher and carry out schedule of work as specified.
· To follow manual handling instructions and look after your back.
· To serve drinks to residents at designated times and as necessary, to include squash and glasses available in lounge and designated residents rooms at any time.
· To effectively participate in staff meeting/training sessions in manual handling and fire lectures.
· To carry out all duties with the Health & Safety of work codes of practice and follow Gardenias policies and read and sign the policies folder, update regularly and follow health and safety policy.
· To become familiar with residents likes and dislikes regarding diet and fluids- liaising with nursing staff.
· To report to the matron or deputy manager any defects in equipment or shortage of equipment.
· To assist cook serving meals when required i.e. breakfast/lunch
· To assist with cleaning dishes be familiar with and able to use dishwasher, sweep and mop floor at end of each shift, leave kitchen/ dining area clean and tidy before leaving.
· To wear uniform as stated in uniform policy.
· No jewellery (except wedding band) to be worn.
· Tick/sign cleaning schedules as necessary.
· Ensure bags are emptied/cleaned and re-lined at the end of each shift.
· To wear name badges at all times when on duty
