JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant and Centre Support to join our daycare team. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, hygienic kitchen environment and supporting our culinary team in providing nutritious meals for our little ones. A commitment to food and health safety is essential; we will cover the cost of a 6-hour Food Safety and Hygiene course prior to starting. The salary begins at $20 per hour. Monday-Friday 12-5pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain the kitchen in a safe, secure, and hygienic manner, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Daily Cleaning: Complete the daily cleaning checklist, ensuring all kitchen areas are clean and organized.
  • Dish Management: Clear dishes and food containers from classrooms, and clean and sanitize them thoroughly.
  • Organization: Sort, organize, and store dishes and kitchen equipment properly to ensure easy access.
  • Food Supply Assistance: Assist the chef with ordering, unpacking, storing, and monitoring food supplies and equipment.
  • Meal Preparation Support: Help the chef with meal prep tasks, including cutting and preparing food ingredients.
  • Waste Management: Take garbage and recycling to designated bins regularly to maintain a clean environment.

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to complete a Food Safety and Hygiene course (cost covered by the employer).
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
