REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality role (preferred but not essential)
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to undertake training, including food hygiene and health & safety courses
  • Flexible and adaptable with a caring and respectful attitude toward patients
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team within a Care Home environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for our patients, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment in line with health and safety regulations
  • Support with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of the cook or chef
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, and ensure everything is stored properly
  • Receive, unpack, and store food deliveries in accordance with food hygiene standards
  • Ensure food is labelled and stored correctly to reduce waste and prevent contamination
  • Follow all infection control policies and procedures, especially in a clinical environment
  • Assist in serving meals to patients and ensuring dietary requirements are met
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, clinical teams, and support services
