Description

Kitchen Assistant
Are you someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where every day is different? The University of Chester is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality and Events team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a friendly and professional environment that values quality, service, and teamwork.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the preparation and delivery of food across our catering outlets. Your responsibilities will include assisting chefs with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, helping with deliveries and stock rotation, and ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly during busy service times. Whether it’s a bustling campus café or a formal university event, your contribution will be essential in delivering a great experience for our students, staff, and visitors.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 36.5 hours per week across 5 days (including some weekends). We offer a competitive salary of £22,728 per year along with generous benefits. These include 22 days of annual leave (rising to 27 after five years of service), bank holidays, university closure days over Christmas, access to either the Higher Education Defined Contribution Scheme (HEDCS) or the Cheshire Local Government Pension Scheme, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
Working at the University of Chester means being part of a supportive community that values your wellbeing and development. We embrace diversity and are committed to equal opportunities, with a flexible approach to work that recognises the importance of work-life balance.
If you’re reliable, hardworking, and keen to contribute to a friendly and forward-thinking hospitality team, we’d love to hear from you. Help us deliver great food, great service, and great experiences — apply today and be a part of something special at the University of Chester.
