Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As a Kitchen Assistant at Doctor’s Orders, you will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable multitasking to ensure that our customers receive the highest level of service.

Your main duties will include:

  • Pre-service kitchen preparation
  • Preparation of all ingredients
  • Full knowledge of and ability to cook menu items (basic cafe-style food).
  • Safe food handling and a commitment to HACCCP.
  • Working closely with the Cafe Manager, particularly with regards to ordering stock.
  • Responsible for ensuring the kitchen is always a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
  • Set production levels
  • Conduct stocktakes
  • Place stock orders
  • Brief front of house team members on menu and allergens
  • Manage kitchen wastage

To be considered for this role, you must display the following:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Kitchen Assistant or similar role in a café or food retail environment
  • Experience managing stock control and costs
  • Food safety supervisor certificate
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene
