About the Role We are looking for a couple of people to join our team as a Kitchen Hand / Dishwasher at Darwin Harbour Cruises. This is a casual position, commencing mid-February 2026. The Kitchen Hand is a hands-on role that would be perfect for those wanting to experience working in a kitchen on a vessel. This role is primarily responsible for assisting the Chefs & Cooks with food preparation and cleaning of kitchen spaces and equipment, to ensure efficient delivery of service and an exceptional food experience onboard the Charles Darwin. The ideal candidate will be passionate and proud of the food and service they deliver, and be willing to go above and beyond for our guests. You will be a team player with a demonstrated positive "can-do" attitude and have the flexibility to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. As a Kitchen Hand / Dishwasher, duties include: Assist with preparation of menu, ensuring high quality and guest satisfaction Clean kitchen equipment, appliances, benchtops, floors, ovens and ranges Receive, lift, handle and store food deliveries Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling and preparing ingredients Hygiene, cleanliness and safety of all staff working in food preparation areas, adhering to food handling & OHS regulations Shifts are approximately 5 hours in length, and the number of hours will gradually increase (depending on your performance and commitment to the role) as the cruising season ramps up to 7 days per week. Shifts commence and finish at Stokes Hill Wharf, Darwin. Unfortunately, the business is not able to provide any sponsorships at this time. About You: Able to work quickly and safely with minimal supervision Good personal hygiene Able to work under pressure Able to work as a team Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills with high fluency in English Marine experience not essential, but must not be affected by sea sickness Have the necessary working entitlements to work in Australia. Required Education/Experience: A minimum 1-year experience in a similar role (preferred) Food Safety Handling certificate (or willing to obtain) A pre-employment medical and National Police Check may be required as part of this recruitment process.
