Top Meal is a fast paced Childcare Catering Kitchen. We have a small team of Cooks and Delivery Drivers and we’re seeking a motivated person to join our team in a support role for cooking and cleaning and to assist when team members are on vacation or are on sick time, along with support on our busier days. We’re open from 6am-4pm Monday-Friday with most stat holidays and weekends off.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Helper to join our culinary team. The Kitchen Helper plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness including dish support, delivery driving, heavy lifting, and ensuring that all food safety standards are met. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about the food industry and eager to learn more about meal preparation in a fast-paced environment.

EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in food service or a kitchen environment is preferred but not required; we welcome those eager to learn.
• Familiarity with basic food handling practices and knowledge of food safety standards is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting.
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning new skills related to cooking and meal preparation.
• A passion for the culinary arts and an interest in advancing within the food industry will be highly regarded.

• Assist cooks and chefs in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Help with the storage and labeling of food items to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
• Support meal preparation by assembling ingredients and preparing simple dishes as directed.
• Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and kitchen operations.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying supervisors of any shortages.
• Participate in cleaning duties at the end of shifts to ensure a hygienic working environment.
• Assist Delivery Drivers with loading the vans and occasionally taking the deliveries- if necessary.
• Support in the daycare kitchens (off-site) when our snack room team members are on vacation or sick
