  • Coordinates all duties and responsibilities of the Cafeteria staff. Establishes daily and weekly task schedules for cafeteria personnel and delegates assignments.
  • Provides training to Cafeteria staff in areas of food preparation, quality control, and sanitation that adhere to the Massachusetts Sanitary Code and all applicable State-appointed guidelines. Participates in in-service training and other activities to stimulate professional growth. Attends training seminars as required.
  • Oversees that staff members maintain uniform standards and practices.
  • Supervises and participates in food preparation, optimizing and maintaining high standards in food flavor, appearance, and presentation, and other tasks as required, including but not limited to cleaning tables and stocking delivered goods.
  • Follows and enforces all policies of the Food Service Department and instructions by the Coordinator relating to safety measures, sanitation practices, personnel standards, cash handling, work techniques, and methods of performing duties. Proper documentation if policies are not followed
  • Responsible for (or may assign to a food service worker) closing out the cash register and compiling and balancing daily meal counts and revenue; also preparing the bank deposit and bringing the deposit to the bank on the same business day.
  • Monitors and manages food and supplies inventory. Orders needed food and supplies in accordance with the menu and volume requirements in cooperation with the Coordinator.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative relationships with students, staff, parents, vendors, and others.
  • Instructs personnel in the proper use and care of equipment.
  • Maintains careful and accurate records of income, food, supplies, and personnel, including weekly time sheet. Verify employees’ daily hours worked.
  • Submits all required reports and requisitions in accordance with prescribed instructions.
  • Manages in preparation for and delivery of catering.
  • Schedules employees and substitute staff.
  • Successfully completes Serve Safe certification within one year of appointment to the position.
