This is an excellent opportunity to develop a career with a well-established, highly respected care home in Golborne, Warrington. Golborne House care home are looking for a Head Cook who shares our passion and enthusiasm to join our team on a full-time 32 hour position available, optional overtime, alternate weekends, shift times 07.30-17.00.
You will receive full support from the very beginning ensuring you receive Induction and Mandatory training to support you be competent and confident in your role. We will also support you to achieve your Diploma in professional cookery to support your catering profession. For this role you would require to have a Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification as a minimum, care home experience is preferred but not essential.
Here at Golborne House we encourage friends and families to join us for meals with prior arrangement or afternoon tea. We also cater for special celebrations for our residents. Menus are prepared in consultation with input from our residents, to ensure that cultural and personal preferences are considered, while achieving a balanced nutritional diet.

Responsibilities

As Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards and with the correct use of all equipment and materials.

  • To plan nutritious meals to all residents on a daily basis, ensuring food purchased is fresh and within budget
  • Discuss menus with the assistant cook and the Home Manager to ensure a balanced diet is maintained.
  • Ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen, to meet the required standards of practice prescribed by Environmental Health Agencies
  • Ensure all stock ordered is consistent with planned menus that reflect choice and preference
  • Ensure that all machines are used correctly, cleaned and stored. Any faults or damage is to be reported immediately.
  • Ensuring the correct storage and rotation of stocks.
  • Maintaining cleaning schedules for the kitchen, equipment and associated areas.
