Position: Head Chef
Location: Roaming between our Trumpington and Gwydir Street Café
Reports to: Executive Chef and Café Managers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Creative and innovative approach to menu development.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely, efficient, and accurate ordering and communication with suppliers and colleagues.
  • Train all staff to the highest standards in menu production, food hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Organise the rota to ensure a suitable kitchen management structure, especially in your absence.
  • Confidently lead your team of chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring good communication and supporting their development.
  • Ensure the kitchen maintains excellent levels of cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene.
  • Set a professional example to all staff members, emphasising quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain a good working atmosphere within the café, motivating and encouraging the team to use their initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Lead the kitchen team, managing and maintaining daily operations, and overseeing the preparation and service of our brunch menu.
  • Ensure consistency in preparation, service, and portion control across the team.
  • Work creatively with the kitchen senior management team to develop new menu items, deli items, and specials.
