Heart’s Tavern (Kimberley, ON) is seeking an experienced part time kitchen porter/ dishwasher to join our team in delivering an exceptional dining environment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication skills to effectively take part in kitchen operations
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Food Handler’s Certificate (company will provide as required)
  • Ontario Health & Safety Training (4 courses provided by company as required)

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Support the kitchen and front of house in the upkeep of all prep, cooking and mis-en-place spaces by keeping areas clean and sanitised. Assist in safe and proper storage of deliveries and ensure that utensils, accoutrements, pots, pans and cutlery are clean and stored as needed by the restaurant team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean, organise and assist the kitchen team with a focus on quality control, efficiency and positive attitude.
  • Ensure the hygiene standard of the kitchen and supporting areas remain high by following protocols and the direction of the chef, service manager and GM.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and work.
  • Provide new staff with assistance as required.
  • Under the direction of the head chef, ensure standards are consistently met, including but not limited to; storage of deliveries, cleaning of prep and service areas, deep cleans as required, prepping food as directed, removal of garbage, recycling and orgnic waste, timely washing, drying and storing of cutlery, accoutrements, pots, pand and cooking utensils.
  • Assist in recording stock and organizing inventory to meet business needs.
  • Communicate stock inventory with the head chef and the rest of the kitchen team in a clear and on a consistent basis
  • Communicate any customer complaints and provide feedback to the head chef and/or general manager/ service manager, ensuring high levels of customer service can be upheld.
  • Participate as required in the restaurant’s health and safety procedures including but not limited to; first aid, injury reporting, documenting incidents/ accidents, public health standards etc.
  • Maintain clear, kind and professional communication with all staff and guests, in line with the company’s code of conduct (see employee manual).
  • Assist the Chef as required and handle other duties as assigned.
