OVERVIEW

Join our Flagship Bakery in Greenwich Village! We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen environment, ensuring that our chefs and decorators can focus on mixing, baking, and decorating cakes and other treats.
We are looking for candidates available for four to five PM shifts per week, 3pm-11pm. Tuesday through Saturday are preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment (hotel, restaurant, catering) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take direction from culinary staff.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform tasks that may require lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds.
  • A passion for food service and a sense of urgency for each task.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish area, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and sheet trays.
  • Sweeping and mopping all areas in the kitchen
  • Taking out the trash and breaking down cardboard properly, in accordance to NYC standards.
  • Properly closing the kitchen, working from a checklist to ensure that all tasks and responsibilities are addressed.
  • Being pro-active and able to complete work without supervision.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
  • Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in storage of incoming food, paper, and linen deliveries, ensuring all food items are rotated (FIFO) properly.
  • Assist the PM Baker with consolidating, wrapping, and storing any items baked during the evening.
