REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A fast learner with an interest in kitchen work.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety regulations and undergo relevant HACCP training
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience and a cool-headed demeanour.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work well within a team and take direction from chefs and kitchen supervisors and management.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Kitchen Porter at Manor West Hotel, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation in our busy kitchen. Your attention to detail and dedication to cleanliness will contribute to a seamless culinary operation, ensuring customer satisfaction and enhancing our reputation for excellence. Responsibilities include keeping kitchen work areas clean and sanitised, assisting with food preparation tasks, managing deliveries, and supporting the kitchen team in various capacities. If you’re passionate about ensuring a hygienic and efficient kitchen environment, we’d love to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure timely washing of pots, pans, utensils, cutlery and crockery, and cookware to support kitchen operations - maintaining a neat appearance of working areas, cleaning equipment and storage areas
- Sweeps and mops kitchen (and other assigned) floors throughout shift.
- Cleans rubbish bins and waste barrels.
- Washes worktables, walls, and refrigerators
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen work surfaces, equipment, and utensils as directed by Head Chef
- To perform functions in a way that minimises breakages
- Manage equipment and ingredient deliveries, ensuring proper storage and organisation.
- Contribute to maintaining cleanliness in food and supply storage areas as well as other back of house areas - as directed by management.
- To identify reasonable needs regarding tools and utensils to carry out your job in order to meet and exceed all standards
- To support the kitchen team in crunch periods or as requested by Department Managers / Head Chef.
