Description

Are you reliable, hardworking, and take pride in keeping things spotless behind the scenes?
Do you want to be part of a professional kitchen team at one of the UK’s leading spa destinations?
At Ragdale Hall Spa, we believe every great dining experience begins with a well-organised kitchen - and that starts with our Kitchen Porters. We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive Kitchen Porter to join our friendly, fast-paced kitchen team.
Working in a kitchen that serves up to 250 covers per service, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness, supporting chefs, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. If you have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, we’ll provide all the training and support you need to thrive.

Main Duties (Full Training Provided):

  • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and take pride in delivering a clean, efficient kitchen environment.
  • Clean and correctly store all kitchen equipment, crockery, and dry stock items.
  • Assist Food Service Assistants in the OB area by following dishwasher operation procedures.
  • Ensure kitchen floors, fridges, dry stores, and preparation areas are regularly swept and mopped, using appropriate signage for safety.
  • Keep the pot wash area clean and tidy, particularly before the end of your shift.
  • Report any equipment faults, maintenance issues, or supply shortages to your supervisor promptly.
  • Record and dispose of any breakages in line with kitchen procedures.
  • Collect clean tea towels from laundry at the start of your shift and return soiled ones at the end.
  • Empty bins frequently and ensure they are kept clean and sanitised.
  • Ensure all keys signed out are returned and logged correctly.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning check sheets to the required standards.
  • Clean all electrical equipment in accordance with departmental risk assessments.
  • Carry out deep cleaning tasks and maintain high hygiene standards across all kitchen areas.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals safely and use kitchen equipment correctly, in line with health and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A strong work ethic.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen is desirable but NOT essential as we will train you in all you need to know.
  • A reasonable level of fitness as this job involves some physical labour.
  • Good communication skills and a team-first attitude.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
