As a Lea Prep person, you will be a part of a growing brand. We are a French cafe based in Chicago with 3 locations and growing. We make our own baguettes, croissants, pastries and desserts from scratch daily in our bakery in the French tradition. We are seeking team players who enjoy making simple, wholesome, honest food!
What You’ll Do:
A prep cook will prepare food ingredients and assists with kitchen tasks, such as washing, chopping, and cleaning, to support the team members on the line in a commercial kitchen.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown of a prep persons’s responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

  • Washing, cleaning, and preparing produce, meats, and other ingredients.
  • Chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables and other ingredients.
  • Measuring and weighing ingredients accurately.
  • Assisting with the preparation of sauces, dressings, and other kitchen staples.
  • Preparing side dishes such as fruit cups, overnight oats and portioning our soups and sauces.

Kitchen Maintenance:

  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
  • Storing food and supplies properly. ( stickers, ect to comply with Health Code)
  • Assisting with unloading and inspecting deliveries.
  • taking temperature of food daily to assure it complies with health code.
  • inspecting fridges daily to assure it complies with health code.
  • organizing and maintaining walk in cooler.
  • inspect front line fridges 3x daily and refill as required to support line team.

Other Duties:

  • Responding to the needs of team members on the line and other cooking staff.
  • Assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Setting up and breaking down kitchen equipment and stations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Pay and Benefits:
Hourly rate starts at 17 base pay plus tips from a tip pool which average 5/ hour so 22 take home pay.
We follow City of Chicago workplace benefits in terms of paid and sick leave.
We offer a free shift meal and 20 min paid break for a shift longer than 6 hours.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
