An opportunity has arisen for a friendly, enthusiastic and skilled cook to join our rapidly growing and forward thinking company in Moss Hey Primary School in Bramhall. Our user-friendly School Grid pre-ordering system ensures you know how many meals to cook in advance, manages allergen control for you, generates recipes and makes ordering super simple, helping you to cook great food. We are looking for someone with an eye for detail and a flare for flavour.
Dolce Ltd is a national school meals caterer providing freshly made school meals across the UK. A family business, we value our reputation for delicious school dinners and reward those that enhance this reputation.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Plan, organise and monitor controls of food quality, presentation and service.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget to achieve and maintain the food cost within the unit.
  • Ensure the health & safety for all Dolce employees and third parties
  • Prepare food using fresh ingredients.
  • Prepare menus and develop recipes.
  • General catering duties following the method described in the Kitchen Folder.
  • Supervision and training of kitchen staff to ensure all team members are working in line with targets and current legislation
  • Be responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of the kitchen and facilities to comply with all aspects of Health and Safety.
  • Check in deliveries of catering and cleaning materials
  • Routine administration duties and reconciliation of cash
  • Oversee emergencies including, but not limited to, flooding and spills.
  • Participation in all Company mandatory training requirements.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous catering and cooking experience within a similar environment.
  • Competent baking skills for making biscuits, cakes, etc.
  • An understanding of allergens, and allergen control procedures
  • An understanding of health, safety and security in the kitchen (further training will be given to the successful candidate)
  • Supervisory/Management skills.
  • Relevant professional catering qualification.
  • Good understanding of budgets. Previous experience in purchasing and stock control is desirable.
  • Ability to work well in a team and on your own initiative.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and take on different tasks as and when required.

You must have relevant qualifications in Food Safety and Hygiene standards and Health & Safety (IOSH and COSHH) as well as GCSE Maths and English.
The role is offered on a permanent basis, Monday to Friday, term time only, and is subject to the applicant’s eligibility to work in the UK and a successful enhanced DBS clearance. Having your own vehicle is recommended, as travel to other sites may be required.
