Description POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Kitchen Worker is to maintain the sanitation and cleanliness of the kitchen areas and equipment by washing dishes, pots, mopping floors, disposing of garbage and grease, and performing general cleaning duties. Assists workers engaged in preparing food for hotel restaurants by performing the following duties. Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies, and procedures. Top 5 Specific Job Functions: Receive soiled dinnerware, flatware, and glassware, placing items according to size and likeness on the automatic dishwashing conveyor belt Operate dish machines Remove washed dinnerware, flatware, and glassware from the automatic dishwasher and stack them according to size and likeness for future use. Return items not satisfactorily cleaned for a second wash Sweep and mop kitchen floors. Scrub walls and trashcans. Pick up trash in the kitchen and loading dock area. Clean floor mats Dismantle stoves, ovens, grills, and broilers daily or as required by the Kitchen Steward. Scrape each item with a wire brush and apply cleaning solution. Clean ventilation units inside and out. Re-light each unit as required Other Specific Job Duties: Maintain a written record of all equipment cleaned and/ or those needing special attention Keep stations assigned, stocked with chinaware, silver, glasses, and condiments. Clean and refill condiments containers Keep the guest side of the lines clean Keep the store room cleaned and items in order on the proper shelf. Put away supplies in proper storage when daily supplies arrive Maintains the cleanliness of the dining room, including tables, chairs, counters, beverage dispensers, and fills ice bins with ice. Disassemble and reassemble machinery for cleaning purposes Greet owners and guests with a warm smile, maintain eye contact, and communicate in a professional and pleasant demeanor. Treat all guests and visitors with maximum courtesy Attend training and retain knowledge covered in sessions Notify supervisor and/ or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, and/ or alleged thefts Notify the manager on duty of any guest concerns or disputes that cannot be readily resolved Be proactive, responsive, and anticipate owner and guest needs before and throughout the stay. Answer all questions or secure answers for owners and guests Maintain composure with difficult owners and guests in demanding situations Adhere to strict service standards and follow established service sequences Maintain an organized, clean, and presentable environment. Requirements Required: Excellent customer service skills Must be able to set up a 3 compartment sink Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts Professional appearance and demeanor Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms Preferred: At least 1 year of related kitchen experience High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience working in a similar resort setting CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Food Handler’s Card WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Varies Physical Demands: Must have the physical ability to access all areas of the facility; move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects; withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing at least 50 lbs. without restriction. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure; work indoors and outdoors, as well as be exposed to hot/cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors. Most work tasks are performed indoors; however, there are events where outdoor activities are required. Indoor temperature is moderate and controlled by internal environmental systems.
