Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Ventia, in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force, is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Kitchen Hand who is passionate about delivering exceptional food and outstanding customer service. Join our vibrant team and support daily kitchen operations and high-quality food preparation, including meal service and event catering.
This casual position is based at the RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia. The kitchen operates daily from approximately 6:00am to 9:30pm, with VIP events extending until around 11:00pm. Successful candidates will also have the chance to work at other Defence locations for camps, including Hampstead Barracks, Murray Bridge and Cultana.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Assist with basic food preparation, including items such as sandwiches, bircher muesli, yogurt, and grab-and-go options.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive and professional demeanour.
  • Support the implementation and management of Ventia’s Food Safety Program.
  • Help with stock management tasks, including rotation, checking labels and use-by dates, loading and unloading supplies, restocking consumables, and assisting with stock take.
  • Clean, sanitise and maintain cooking utensils, equipment and food preparation areas.
  • Aid chefs and dining room attendants as required, especially during peak times.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
