Description

The rise of antimicrobial resistance highlights the need for alternative and disinfection methods. Phage therapy, the use of viruses that specifically target and kill bacteria, has shown promising results in treating resistant infections as well as in agriculture and food safety applications.
In an exciting collaboration between the University of Manchester and Saraco Industries Ltd. We are developing novel biodegradable hygienic wipes infused with bacteriophages for skin and surfaces disinfection. This project is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.
We are looking to recruit an ambitious Research Associate to undertake this 30-month project. The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the interface of academic research and commercial innovation. The successful candidate will split their time between Saraco’s facilities in Farnworth (Bolton) and the University of Manchester, benefiting from supervision, expertise and resources offered at both organisations.
