Description

Modern Family Law (MFL), a rapidly expanding national law firm specializing in Family Law, is seeking an L&D Paralegal Training Specialist to join our offices remotely in Texas.
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive structured and scalable training program that supports our paralegals at all levels – from onboarding new hires to upskilling seasoned professionals. You will report to and collaborate with the Director of Learning and Development (L&D) to create engaging on-demand content and lead live training workshops to ensure our paralegals have the legal knowledge and practical skills they need to be successful at MFL. QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education & Experience:

  • Two (2) years plus experience as a paralegal in family law, or in a comparable area of law with transferable skills.
  • Experience designing and delivering legal or other training (can include internal firm training, CLEs, college instruction, or legal tech/LMS development).

    Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working at a multi-office law firm or managing jurisdictional differences in training materials.

  • Strong working knowledge of family law procedures and filings in at least one of the firm’s states (CA, CO, TX, WA, or GA).
  • Background in instructional design, adult learning theory, or corporate training.
  • Familiarity with tools like Microsoft 365, Adobe, LMS platforms (e.g., TalentLMS, Thinkific, Kajabi) and AI.

Responsibilities

Training Program Development:

  • Design and maintain a comprehensive paralegal training curriculum, structured by experience level and role.
  • Develop effective modular, on-demand training courses and materials (videos, slides, handouts, quizzes, SOPs, etc.) suitable for uploading into our Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Incorporate jurisdiction-specific training elements for each state in which MFL has offices.

Live Training & Workshops:

  • Deliver live virtual workshops to train paralegals on case processes, local court rules, procedural timelines, discovery, financial disclosures, calendaring, trial support, etc.
  • Host interactive sessions on legal tech tools, professional communication, ethical rules, and attorney support best practices.
  • Assist in recruiting guest speakers and facilitating presentations.

Evaluation & Support:

  • Assess learning needs through feedback, performance data, and collaboration with Paralegal Supervisor and Managing Attorneys/Partners.
  • Develop assessments, checklists, and performance metrics to track paralegal development.
  • Act as a mentor and subject-matter resource for paralegals at all levels.
  • Attend and participate in paralegal meetings as directed.
  • Provide ongoing support via paralegal slack channel(s), one-on-one meetings, etc.

Content Management & Compliance:

  • Keep training materials current with changes in family law, court procedures, and internal protocols.
  • Ensure materials are legally accurate and comply with firm-wide standards, state-specific requirements, and all ethical obligations.

    Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of Post-Bar Law Clerk/Mentorship program, including coordinating and scheduling all internal and external training sessions, attorney shadowing opportunities, billing and software simulations, skills workshops, webinars, feedback, and all other components of the program.

  • Collect, monitor, and use available data to evaluate the effectiveness of the Post-Bar Law Clerk/Mentorship Program, recommend improvements, and respond to feedback.
  • Assist in facilitating communication between Post-Bar Law Clerks, mentors, and others.
  • Work closely with all Managing Attorneys/Partners and Post-Bar Law Clerks to assess and meet identified needs.
  • Assist Post-Bar Law Clerks in performing billable work assigned to them in advance of submission for attorney review.
  • Monitor and facilitate a Post-Bar Law Clerk slack channel.
  • Assist Post-Bar Law Clerks in managing daily tasks, billing spreadsheets, and coordinating with MAs for review and feedback.
