FULL DESCRIPTION:

We work in a fast-moving market with new applications emerging all the time, so we’re looking for bright, innovative and passionate people to research and develop innovative software solutions to prove the viability of new technology. The Software Apprentice will be part of a specialist team on new technology for products such as smart connected devices, edge computing and cloud-based solutions and sensors.
You could be working in our labs developing new concepts and innovations for our customers or researching new breakthrough technologies for our vacuum solutions. It’s an amazing insight into life inside an organisation that is growing and developing all the time. The three-year degree programme is an exciting development opportunity where you will spend approximately 20% of your time learning and studying. Learning is delivered by our training partner BPP via two to three hours of online live lectures and seminars each week, and a flexible approach the rest of the time that fits to yours and your team’s schedule. The rest of the time you’ll be fully immersed and learning ‘on the job’ and putting the theory you have learnt in an academic environment into practice.
From the very start you will be immersed in a world of real-world experience in our cutting-edge vacuum innovation team. You’ll be given all the support and training you need to equip you with world-class skills to be a successful engineering development technician.

SKILLS REQUIRED & PERSONAL QUALITIES

• A clear interest in science and engineering practices.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a specialist team.
• Problem solving skills and the ability to analyse information and apply knowledge to make suggestions.
• The ability to carry out tasks correctly and efficiently to a high quality.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• The ability to clearly and precisely record data, conditions and test variables.
• Proactive and conscientious, with a strong commitment to academic studies.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English, Science and Maths.
• At least 104 UCAS points, or, a recognised and equivalent qualification, or completion of a Level 3 apprenticeship/professional qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Computer Science, Electronics, Engineering or similar.
