Are YOU our next Lab Assistant Specimen Processing?
We’re looking for a Laboratory Assistant Specimen Processing to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario. As a Lab Assistant you will be responsible for processing of laboratory specimens and/or entering requisitions and/or results accurately and in a timely manner and ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Your contributions will make a difference and will greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life.
Status: Permanent Full-Time
Shift: Monday to Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with a rotation on Saturdays.

Location: 750 Peter Morand, Ottawa, ON

• Completion of secondary-school level education and a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program
• Experience providing exceptional, professional customer focused service in a demanding and frequently changing environment
• Demonstrated ability to self-manage, prioritize and collaborate in a team-oriented, high volume, time-sensitive environment
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) at an intermediate level
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures and ability to apply that knowledge in troubleshooting issues and providing recommendations for solutions

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of AS400 Data Entry system/LIS

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment
• Medical laboratory environment
• Required walking with repetitive motions
• May sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer use
• Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required
• Exposed to bio hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variances
