We are seeking a Lab Automation Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team which spans mechanical, electrical, materials, robotics, AI, and software engineering. In this role, you will accelerate our materials research by designing and building automated testing systems for adobe mixtures. This is an on-site role based in Bloomington, Indiana, ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on with both hardware and software, and is passionate about sustainability and experimental design. You’ll play a key role in developing test rigs, control systems, and data pipelines that enable high-throughput experimentation and analysis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with lab automation, test equipment, or experimental systems.
  • Comfortable working with both software (e.g., Python, control systems) and basic hardware.
  • Ability to work independently from concept through completion.
  • Interest in materials science, sustainability, and experimental design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with sensor integration and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with mechanical design or prototyping.
  • Exposure to materials testing or construction technologies.
  • Background in engineering, physics, or applied sciences.
